The Turning 50 Story

Turning 50 is not an ending. It is a sunrise.

Monica turns fifty this year — and she refuses to let it pass quietly. Fifty years in Kenya as a woman, a Catholic, a mother of five, an entrepreneur who built businesses from nothing and led hundreds of women, is not a milestone to manage. It is a credential — proof that everything she coaches is true, because she has lived it.

"50 years of life. 50 lessons learned. 5 children raised. 3 companies built. 850 women led. One powerful message to share with the world."

Her Story

From a Huruma childhood to the CWA podium.

Portrait of Monica Wanjohi

"I understand life from the bottom up — and that's the engine of real coaching."

01

Huruma, Eastlands

A childhood built on community

Born and raised in Huruma — third-born of five — in a village that raised its children together. Faith and family were the foundation long before they became her vocation. Those roots aren't background noise; they are her grassroots credibility, the kind no marketing budget can manufacture.

02

Ndururuno Primary → Pangani Girls

A character-forming education

Top-three academically through Class 8, gifted in drama, debate and dance, Monica earned her place at Pangani Girls — and met her first real test of character: the intimidation of a bigger stage, and the slow rebuild of confidence that eventually made her Patron Chair of the Alumni Association.

03

University of Nairobi

The first graduate in her family

She became the first girl in both her paternal and maternal family to earn a university degree — a landmark that set the tone for a life of breaking barriers: first to own a car, first to fly, first to start a business, first to marry in church.

04

15 Years in Pharma · Executive Leadership

A life of performance

From a commission-only start at Madison Insurance, to fifteen years as one of Kenya's top pharmaceutical performers at Phillips, to Marketing & Business Development at Aga Khan University Hospital and Nairobi Women's Hospital — where she rose to General Manager — her career reads like a masterclass in building from nothing.

05

Founder, Brandkey & Milestone Signature Properties

The entrepreneur who bought land with no money

She negotiated a three-month access-before-payment land deal, then sold plots to fund the purchase. It is the kind of faith-backed, creative leadership story coaching audiences pay to hear — wins, failures and all. Monica tells it honestly, because vulnerability is her superpower.

06

Faith & Service

Vice Chair, Catholic Women's Association

A Certified Spiritual Director (Mwangaza Retreat Centre, Jesuit-facilitated), co-host of "Unleash Your Character" on Radio Maria, and current Vice Chair leading 850 women at CWA — Monica's faith is not performative. It is the organising principle of everything she does.

"I help families, individuals and organisations unleash the character that God already placed inside them — so they can live with integrity, raise children with values, and lead with purpose." — Monica Wanjohi

Before You Book

Questions families ask.

If yours isn't here, ask it directly — Monica answers her own enquiries.

No. Monicah's coaching is rooted in her Catholic faith and she never hides that, but families of every faith and none work with her. The character work — honesty, responsibility, how you treat people — belongs to everybody.

Thirty minutes, by phone or video. You describe what's going on, Monicah asks questions, and by the end you'll know whether coaching is the right fit and which programme suits you. There's no pressure to book anything.

Yes, and it usually works better that way. Family sessions are designed for parents and children together, with separate space for teenagers when a topic needs it.

Yes. Schools, parishes, chamas and companies across Kenya can book in-person sessions; travel and accommodation are quoted separately and agreed upfront. Online sessions are available anywhere.

One-on-one coaching starts at KES 7,000 per session. Family cohorts, school terms, group sessions and corporate workshops are quoted by scope — you'll get a written quote before you commit to anything.

Yes. Everything discussed in a session stays between you and Monicah. Stories are only ever shared publicly with written permission, and names are changed unless you ask otherwise.
